Achimenes cupreata
Gand/Morren, 1847
Now known as Episcia cupreata, the ultimate parent of the majority of modern Episcia hybrids. Another, different, print of this species can be seen here. Note how the red color of the flowers has bled into the surrounding paper over the last 150+ years. The red paints used in hand coloring were not always completely stable. Earlier prints with red color sometimes lost almost all of the redness over time.
