The Alsobias are a small genus, closely related to Episcia, characterized by large white flowers with frilly edges. The most familiar species, A. punctata and the more common A. dianthiflora, are stoloniferous, in that they produce "runners" with plantlets along their length, which can be easily propagated. Note the stolon to the right of the picture above.
A. punctata and A. dianthiflora have been crossed to produce the similar hybrids A. 'Cygnet' and A. 'San Miguel'.
