Besleria lutea (fruit)

We collected this in Jamaica. It becomes a large shrub or small tree there. It will bloom quite small though. The flower is quite small, pale yellow, not at all interesting. The fruit is bright red when ripe, and the calyx folds back revealing a reddish patch that looks like meat. I wonder what collects the fruit?
