Chirita species 3 (Okuto)

Mr. Okuto originally reported that this unidentified species was significantly less floriferous than the other species and hybrids that he has provided for display here. However, his recent experience suggests that this may not be so -- the 1997 growing season has produced very floriferous specimens, as evidenced by a photo of a tremendous flush of bloom.

John Boggan of the Smithsonian Institution has examined this species, and is of the opinion that it is a variation of C. fimbrisepala. Further work is being done on this, and appropriate formal publication is expected in the near future. See Mr. Boggan's article on this site for a discussion of the taxonomic circumstances of Chirita.
