Chirita linearifolia
Grown by Monte Watler
This interesting species can produce a long "neck" as the crown grows up and lower leaves fall off. This can result in an interesting bonsai effect -- this particular specimen was in fact entered in the artistic division, rather than the horticultural division, of the spring 1999 show of the Toronto Gesneriad Society. It won an award. A closeup of the flowers can be seen here, and a younger plant here.
