This is one of the earliest representations of gesneriads in the botanical literature, and is in excellent condition despite being printed and hand colored well over 200 years ago, in the very earliest days of botanical color illustration.  Not all of the plates from this series are as well preserved.  Another example of the same print has had the red paint used for the hand coloring oxidize to a dark brown.  A photo of the species itself can be seen here.
