Drymonia serrulata

Growing in nature in French Guiana

Mr. Feuilliet found this interesting specimen growing along the Arataye River in French Guiana.  Note the leafy calyces at the base of the flower.

D. serrulata is a highly variable species with a large range.  While it is possible that future botanical investigation will result in the definition of more than one species within this group, at present it includes a range of floral appearance, as indicated by another photo here.
