Drymonia conchocalyx display fruit

The way this fruit is displayed, with the high contrast between the orange seed mass and the white calyx, suggests that it is meant to be eaten, with the seeds distributed in the droppings of the eater.  It could be a bat or a bird, or some other organism.

A photo of the flower can be seen here.
