Gloxinia maculata var. insignis

Verschaffelt/Lemaire, ca 1863

This representation of Gloxinia perennis captures the mottled markings on the stem (hence "maculata"), as well as the dramatic lavender flowers and large red-backed leaves of the species.  Other prints of the same species can be seen here and here.
