P. hypocyrta and P. fuquaiana have a similar habit, but with quite different flowers. Those of hypocyrta are pure white, but also pouched. P. fuquaiana has white flowers with spots, but without the pouch. Another photo (also from the Smithsonian's collection) illustrates the overall balance among leaves, stems and flowers.
