This magnificent specimen won "Best in Show" at the April 1999 show of the Toronto Gesneriad Society. I have never before seen such a floriferous specimen, and the plant was otherwise immaculate. A triumph.
I think this is an excellent example of the potential inherent in growing smaller plants with multiple crowns. The fashion has been to grow these cultivars with a single crown, and that limits the flowering potential significantly. As this specimen shows, multiply crowned plants can be both tidy and very beautiful.
