This is a relatively new collection of S. schiffneri, distributed by the Smithsonian Institution. It has darker leaves, with red markings on the backs, and red stems. The flowers are larger and more distinctly spotted than the previously available versions of the species. The flowers also appear to open more fully, which enhances their apparent size. The plant grows quite tall, (up to a meter or more), and will develop into an attractive shrub. It will grow nicely in an east-facing window. A larger portion of this plant can be seen here.
