Sinningia sp. 'Ibitioca'

This is a relatively newly collected species from Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil.  It grows on rocky slopes in full sun, sometimes in the presence of cacti (as in this photo).  Unlike many gesneriads from such habitats (e.g. S. iarae), it does not produce a partly above-ground tuber -- the tuber is fully underground, and there are also thick rhizome-like stems that can also produce new above-ground growth (see this photo).  A whole cultivated plant can be seen here.
