These richly colored flowers are produced by the dozen on large attractive plants.  There is some variation in the species, as can be seen from flowers on plants grown at the Smithsonian Institution.  A photo of another plant at the Geneva Botanical Gardens illustrates the large caudex-like tuber from which these grow.
