Sinningia leucotricha

A beautifully grown specimen of this dramatic species, a prizewinner at the March 2006 show of the Toronto Gesneriad Society.  It's been grown and displayed to accentuate the caudex-like tuber.  Other specimens of S. leucotricha can be seen here and here.  Note that the flowers on the plant above appears to be more orangey-red, rather than the soft orange of other plants.  This may, in part, be a function of the imaging process as well as variations in the species.
