Streptocarpus kentaniensis

S. kentaniensis is a potentially very useful plant for the production of winter-blooming (short-day) hybrids, as it blooms well in natural light in the short days of winter as far north as Great Britain (which is a lot farther north than Toronto, for instance).   Another plant may be seen by clicking here, and a hybrid by clicking here.  A close-up of the flowers shows the attractive markings in the throat.
