Streptocarpus wendlandii leaf back
by Dirk Bellstedt
Grown by Dirk Bellstedt
The red underside of the leaves of S. wendlandii is quite dramatic. The species is unifoliate (each plant has a single leaf). Several plants are growing in this common pot. Photos of the flowering plants and a closeup of the flowers further illustrate the attracive nature of this species. S. porphyrostachys also has reddish-backed leaves, and this characteristic has been transferred to hybrids.
